Hi Camille:

First, I’m really doing my best. Sorry for the mistakes. English isn’t my best language, but I’ll try to express some ideas about my project Desliz, perhaps don’t you remember, but is the same that you visited in Old Havana, the last December. Remember? The paper hanging into a cage with red scotch where you can read: “A black is a black till you demonstrate the opposite”. A woman is a woman before you demonstrate the opposite…”. Original was hanging a video cam down this paper to catch face of the spectator since he or she was reading the frases. This work named “piece-cage”. We don’t have enough resources to put indefinitely the cam over there.

Now I’m working in a personal project about a mix of texts, installations, and digital work. Now I’m dealing with the next number of Desliz review, and I would like to invite you. We’ll appreciate your collaboration. We found on the Internet some of your digital works and the group. If you are interesting to participate send us any work made in a digital form.

The best wishes,
Lizabel Mónica

Hello Liz,

Jhave, Michelle and I are all interested in participating but Michael is in Costa Rica right now. He will be back next week so we will talk to him when he returns and will get back to you. Is there a particular project that you have seen on our site that you are interested in presenting? Did you have something in mind?

Camille

Hi Camille:

Really, I don’t have any specific idea about what you can send me. I visited your site and only show up is that you send me pictures, some videos or text about a specific work you have done or something that you are doing. But really, I prefer that you think in this magazine like something alive, and you produce it like a corpus inside the magazine. That’s the reason because I invite you to think the way that you prefer get in. The only condition is that you must work in a digital format (video or text or image or another that you create: I’ll put the magazine in two ways, one in multimedia format and another for printing). I would prefer to see them happen something that was an action in itself inside the magazine.

Hi Camille,

Finally, the review is ready, but in the last moment I have little problem with the translate of the timeline. Here is really hard to find a nice translator for this specific material, to many neologism and media language, because in our country those topic are in the starlin. I need urgent, if this is possible, someone who translate those texts. This way will be possible put it bilingual in the magazine.

Write me back as soon as you can. Sorry for disturbing in the last moment.

Check it. I send you the text only of timeline in txt format (here the connection is too slow) for remember that you send before.

My best… from Havana,
Liz

Hola Liz,

Camille Turner from Year Zero One has asked that I contact you since she is currently busy working on a project in Jamaica. I have been trying to find a translator to translate the English text of the Year Zero One timeline to Spanish. Unfortunately, I’ve been having difficulty finding someone here in Toronto to do the translation. I am wondering if there is someone in the media arts community in Havana who could take on the job. I recall when I was last in Havana meeting several artists –including Wilfredo from the Ludwig Foundation– who were bilingual. Perhaps he would know someone –who is also familiar with some of the English terminology of new media art—who could translate? Here is the contact information:

Let me know if you have any progress with them.
